We all need help and support. It’s our nature to thrive in relationship with each other.  When we have a problem, it’s natural to turn toward others who have solved that problem.  But how do we navigate through the sea of advice and information being thrown at us daily?  How do we tell who we can trust?

We establish our bottom line.

If you don’t clearly know what your bottom line in business is, then I suggest you stop everything and decide what it is.

Yes, it’s a decision.

Your bottom line in business is the most crucial metric by which to measure your success. Write it down. Hang it above your desk. This is your raft when you are out at sea!

Let me share how I grabbed onto my raft for dear life last night while searching for support in the wild rapids of the internet.

Last night, I was like… how the hell am I going to deliver my course?  Structure it?  OK, so I googled to get some help and landed on a woman’s page who teaches exactly this.  She’s pretty adorable and the information she is selling is very affordable, so I read through her sales pitch and outline for what she is offering.

Glimpsing through I pretty quickly came to this:

“If you struggle to stick to these guidelines it’s most likely cause this is your genius zone (your area of expertise!) and you want to share everything you know, but make sure you remember the value of what you’re giving away and strip it back!”

Ok, stop right there.

What would I have to do to follow this advice?  I would have to stop myself from giving when I feel to give; to hold back. I would have to close my heart.

What would the cost of that be?  A loss of joy, creativity and general motivation for life.

Wow- HUGE costs there.

What kind of money could I make that I would be willing to trade that for?
No amount.

OK. because I know my bottom line is to keep my heart open, this is a pretty quick process for me to know that this person’s program won’t help me reach my goals for success in my own personal business.

Unfortunately, I see this kind of advice EVERYWHERE and it breaks my heart.  These aren’t bad people saying this, it’s just what they were taught and therefore continue to teach. Perhaps they have applied this principle and got a certain kind of monetary success from it. Often people think money is the sole metric to gauge success, but only if money is truly your bottom line is this appropriate. If your bottom line is actually something else, you need to consider the factors that effect that.

This doesn’t mean money isn’t a metric at all. It certainly is a factor within the scheme of things.  If you are starving, you are hobbled in your mission. But how you gather your nuts is important.  If the gathering process doesn’t align with your deeper mission, you will ultimately fail.  While you may end up with a lifetime supply of nuts, they will be poisoned. Major bummer.

So, how do we avoid collecting poison nuts?  We make sure our collection process adheres to the guidelines of our bottom line.

Know what yours is and you will gain a strong clarity of purpose.

With your purpose in hand, you will magnetize everything and get what you need to
live out your own vision of success.

We change the world by being conscious creators and supporting each other in this process.

Together, we can do this.
