Selling isn’t easy. It takes guts. It requires putting all of yourself out there over and over again. There you are for all to see; in both your magnificence and warty human imperfections. The reality is that not everyone will like you. Not everyone will say yes to your offer. In fact, selling invites the word “NO” into your life in a big way.
Ugh, why the heck would you want to subject yourself to that?
Because this is what you wade through to hear the sweet sound of a “YES”; the union between what you are offering and the needs of another. The sweetness of this sound has the power to drown out a thousand no’s.
Like a ship tacking in wind, you weather each “no” on your path towards a resounding “yes”.
As you begin to understand this, your response to the no’s will morph from a feeling of utter rejection to a sense of calm and peace. It is all just feedback guiding you to where you are trying to go.
Every “yes” AND every “no” are equal in the process of creating the world we dream of.
It is all part of the process of creativity. It is what is behind the inspiration that you, the mission-oriented business owner, have taken to heart. You aspire to make your vision real, seemingly out of thin air. From an invisible sphere of “knowing” that possibilities are infinite, you can learn to physically manifest into the world that which symbolizes your vision.
To build a business that you authentically believe in, to start a movement, to change our world; you must choose to stand for something, believe in something. You decide to care with all your heart even if it seems that no one else does. You become like the lighthouse beacon flashing its light unwaveringly out to sea; always there for someone to find.
Consider taking Rumi’s words to heart, “We live life as if everything is rigged in our favor”. If you do this you may find, interestingly enough, that it certainly does seems that way.
Believe.
Believe.
Believe.
So much so that you are willing to put your fully imperfect messy beautiful self out there.
It won’t be easy. But I promise it will be worth it.
Our world is beckoning you to come out of hiding and show up fully now.
It may hurt a little at first, but it’s just growing pains. On the others side is the realization of every possibility you ever imagined.
