I was working with a few women who have some considerable debt and as we first began our work together, no matter where we went, the focus returned to this debt and a feeling of insurmountability in the face of it.

It was like being tied to a ball and chain, no matter where we tried to go to move forward, they were snapped back, facing the debt. Paralyzed.

Whether we have debt or not I believe we can relate as most of us have something on our shoulder beckoning us out of our moment.

Something we want to fix. And RIGHT NOW. Before we allow ourselves to live.

But it doesn’t work this way.

No problem fixes itself when we bury our heads in it.

Dwelling on our difficulties doesn’t resolve them.

Creativity combined with action does.

And these are both accessed by inhabiting our present moment.

This is our only point of power.

Debt is simply a  physical manifestation of this internal way of thinking that keeps us stuck.   Credit card companies particularly have a business model that is set up on trying to keep us stuck, they WANT us to stay indebted to them,  to keep us on an endless drip cycle of giving our power away to them… like a LITERAL ball and chain.

Whether we are in debt or not, we all have things that pull on us to take our attention away from our present reality.  From mulling over “what if” catastrophic possible future scenarios we fear we won’t be able to handle! To drudging through our past, thinking something we could change there might resolve a current problem (impossible!)

The reality is, for the most part, when we come out of our heads and really look around in our present moment, we’re ok. Right here, right now.  We actually have available to us what we need to create, to give, to express ourselves and to generate what it is we need. At the very least, it is the only place we have a shot from!

Again, this present moment is our ONLY point of power.  All possibility is open to us here. May we all help each other return here when we go astray.

Deal? 🙂
